Mercury retrograde often stirs up nostalgia—it might have you listening to old songs, reminiscing about the past, or reconnecting with friends you haven’t spoken to in a while, maybe even those you’ve lost touch with. However, the deeper purpose of Mercury retrograde lies in providing us with the chance to reassess and carefully decide which people and things we want to keep in our lives.
For various reasons, there may have been projects left unfinished, connections not maintained, or tasks not completed as well as you’d hoped. Mercury retrograde acts as a cosmic “pause and review,” inviting us to revisit and reflect on these unfinished matters.
While the past can never be changed, our perspective on it can—and so can we.
Take relationships, for example. Perhaps there’s someone you once cut ties with because you found them unpleasant. Now, during Mercury retrograde, an opportunity may arise to reconnect. This is your chance to ask yourself:
“Was this person really as bad as I thought?”
You might discover that your judgment has softened and they’re not so bad after all. Or, you might reaffirm that yes—they are just as unbearable as you remembered. And that’s okay, too!
This retrograde period offers you the space to reevaluate and “retake the lesson.” It’s a chance to decide if certain relationships, commitments, or situations are truly worth carrying forward into your future.
Mercury retrograde reminds us that growth comes from reflection. Use this time wisely to refine your circle and focus on what truly matters.
